About our work
We wanted to find out more about what British soldiers and their families who are based in Germany and who have been affected by cancer thought about the support they received. We asked about the kind of support they were given and if anything could have made living with cancer easier. We also spoke to health professionals, senior military personnel and others involved in providing support about what they thought could make things better.
How did we carry out our work?
We interviewed ten people who had been affected by cancer. We asked many more who had been affected by cancer whilst in Germany to fill out a questionnaire about their experiences. We also interviewed and held small discussion groups with people who gave some of the support like health professionals and welfare officers. We spoke to senior military personnel to look at ways of making support services better.
